WHEN THE DEVIL CRIED: ENDING OF DEVILMAN CRYBABY EXPLAINED

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

HOW ARE YOU ALL?

This is my first blog I’m writing, so there **may be some grammar mistakes** — please ignore that for now πŸ™

I’ll definitely try to improve in the future.

So now\... **LET’S TALK ABOUT DEVILMAN CRYBABY’S ENDING!**

ENDING EXPLAINED

So many of us — the people who’ve completed *Devilman Crybaby* — were **sad and confused** after seeing the ending.

Even I went into **depression for 2 straight days** after completing the anime and understanding the ending.

So now I’m here to explain the ending.

There are **2 ways this ending can be seen**, so PLEASE keep your eyes wide open and carefully read as I explain **all 2 endings**.

ENDING -1

This ending has a very deep meaning behind it.

To understand it, we must look into **Satan’s past.**

We all know that Satan was an **angel who challenged God**, and due to that, he was **banished from Heaven**.

Satan wandered through the universe until he found **Earth**.

There, he discovered demons who could **merge with any organism**, and he started living with them.

Until one day...

**God arrived** to see how His creation was doing.

God was **unhappy with the demons and Satan**, and He **waged war**.

In that war, **demons and Satan lost**, and Earth was destroyed.

But then... God **re-created Earth.**

Even though the demons and Satan were physically dead, **their souls were still living**.

Satan was reborn as a human.

In this human form (Ryo), he had **no memory** of being Satan.

Then the entire anime’s story happens — I won’t repeat it here.

 πŸ’₯ AFTER THE FINAL BATTLE

Ryo (Satan) and Akira Fudo end up on the **Moon**.

Ryo continues talking, but during that moment, he notices...

Akira is already dead.

At that moment, Satan has **2 regrets**:

 1) **He Felt Emotions

For the first time, Satan — THE DEVIL HIMSELF — felt emotions.

He finally understood **how much he loved Akira**.

Akira had shown him love, empathy, and passion, and through Akira... **Satan felt true emotion** for the first time in eternity.

 2) **He Became What He Hated**

Satan always believed that **God destroyed demons because they were weak.**

But ironically... Satan did the same thing.

He led demons to destroy **humans**, who were weaker than demons.

In the end, **Satan became the very thing he hated** — the destroyer.

And then we see God’s forces **destroy the Earth again**, and possibly Satan too.

POST CREDIT

We see a **new Earth**, and **two moons**:

* One is where Satan and Akira fought

* The other is a **new moon**

This means it’s a loop

Satan will once again destroy all humans, kill Akira, regret it, and suffer endlessly...

Over and over...

SATAN'S PRISON

In short:

God **trapped Satan in an infinite loop**, just because he challenged Him.

Earth is Satan’s prison.

We humans? Just mere pawns.

Satan is **stuck in eternal suffering and regret... forever**.

HIDDEN SYMBOL:BATON

During the final battle, we’re repeatedly shown a scene where:

* **Miko** passes the baton to **Mika**,

* **Mika** passes it to **Akira**,

* But when Akira tries to pass it to **Ryo**, the baton falls.

This is symbolic:

The **baton represents emotions.**

Akira tried so hard to make Ryo feel human, to feel love...

But when Ryo finally felt emotions...

**It was too late.**

There was no one left to share those feelings with.

ALTERNATE ENDING

Some fans say that when Satan was crying over Akira’s death,

**God’s forces didn’t come to kill him**...

They came to **take him back to Heaven.**

That maybe... just maybe...

God **wanted Satan to understand love**, and Earth was just a **test**.

That God was giving **humanity and Satan** another chance.

In this alternate ending, there is **no loop.**

Just redemption.

But personally...

**I like the first ending** — the loop.

It’s sad. It’s painful. But it’s more meaningful.

 πŸ’¬ WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Which ending do you believe in?

Comment below πŸ‘‡

Let’s talk!

πŸ’‘ FINAL MESSAGES/LESSONS FROM THE ENDING:

1. Love can even reach the Devil.

   – Akira’s love was so powerful, it made Satan feel emotions.

2. Power without empathy is meaningless.

   – Satan had power, but no heart. In the end, it brought him nothing but pain.

3. Humans are fragile but capable of great love.

   – Akira fought for love, even when the world was ending.

4. You can win and still lose.

   – Satan won the battle, but lost his only connection: Akira.

5. Cycles of hatred and violence only bring more pain.

   – The loop is a symbol of what happens when we don’t learn.
